The 43th ISOBM Annual Congress

Towards Precision Medicine: From Biomarker Discovery to Novel Therapies

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the International Society of Oncology and Biomarkers I am delighted to invite you to attend and actively participate in the 43rd ISOBM Congress to be held in  Chicago, United States, 1-6 September 2016.

With the theme,  “Towards Precision Medicine: From Biomarker Discovery to Novel Therapies” the Congress links all fields of cancer research and oncology. The meaning of “Biomarkers” keeps evolving and we now realize that basic scientific discoveries today will most likely become the tumor biomarkers of tomorrow. The fascinating world of biomarkers is where scientists, laboratory medicine specialists and clinicians meet.  Biomarkers hold out promise for improving the clinical outcomes of cancer patients. For this reason, the theme challenges us to translate new findings into clinical practice, and invites interdisciplinary and innovative approaches. The latest findings in cancer research, diagnosis and clinical oncology will  be presented in oral and poster format, along with panel discussions and special topic seminars. Commercial vendors will be on site to showcase their products and services. The participants will have an opportunity to exchange ideas and expertise in an international forum, to engage in collaboration, to meet with friends and colleagues from all over the world, and to hear lectures delivered by prominent leaders in the field of Cancer Research, Oncology and Biomarkers.

In addition to what is certain to be a stimulating Congress program, participants will also be able to take advantage of exciting social activities. Chicago, the Congress site, is a beautiful and well-known metropolitan city in USA, renowned for its unique architectural style and for the hospitality of the locals. Chicago is located in the Midwest. It is the third largest city in the United States. It’s well known for blues, jazz, comedy, shopping, and dining. As the hub of the Midwest, Chicago is easy to find —its picturesque skyline across the waters of huge Lake Michigan creates a memorable first impression that soon reveals world-class museums of art and science, miles of sandy beaches, huge parks and public art, and perhaps the finest downtown collection of architecture in the world. You will certainly have a good time!

I look forward to hosting you in this world class city for what will surely be a great cancer meeting.
